FunnelHound / Guides / Apple identifiers
Every Apple identifier, explained: which ID the form actually wants
Apple runs two identifier families on two websites. developer.apple.com owns the signing family: Team ID, Bundle ID, App ID, APNs Key ID. App Store Connect owns the store family: App Store ID, SKU, Issuer ID, API Key ID, Vendor Number, Provider ID. Work out which family a form belongs to and the shape of the value tells you the rest.
The table
| Identifier | Shape | Identifies | Where to read it | Who asks for it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Team ID | 10 letters and digits | Your developer account as a signing authority | developer.apple.com → Membership details; Xcode Team menu | Universal links, push providers, entitlements, Sign in with Apple |
| Bundle ID | Reverse DNS, com.company.app | One app binary, forever | Xcode target → General; App Store Connect → App Information | Everything that identifies the app on a device |
| App ID | Team ID + Bundle ID | The registered pairing of team and bundle, with capabilities | developer.apple.com → Identifiers | Provisioning profiles, capability toggles |
| APNs Key ID | 10 letters and digits | One push notification key | developer.apple.com → Keys | Push providers, with the Team ID and the APNs .p8 |
| App Store ID (Apple ID of the app) | 10 digits | One app's store listing | App Store Connect → App Information; the id in any store link | Attribution SDKs, review prompts, SKAdNetwork, smart banners |
| SKU | Any string you chose | One app, your own bookkeeping label | App Store Connect → App Information | Sales reports, nothing else |
| Issuer ID | UUID with hyphens | Your team, for the App Store Connect API | Users and Access → Integrations → App Store Connect API | Every API client, fastlane, CI, FunnelHound |
| API Key ID | 10 letters and digits | One App Store Connect API key | Same page, Team Keys table | Same clients, next to the Issuer ID |
| Vendor Number | 8 digits, starts with 8 | Your legal reporting entity | Payments and Financial Reports | Sales and finance report calls, revenue tools |
| Provider ID (short name) | Short string or number | Your account as a content provider | Transporter, iTMSTransporter provider list | Transporter uploads when you belong to several teams |
Two names are missing on purpose. Your Apple ID is the email you sign in with; it is an account, not an identifier a form wants. And Developer ID is not an ID at all but the name of the Mac certificate type used for apps shipped outside the Mac App Store.
Identify a value by its shape
Most mix-ups happen between values that look alike. Read the shape before the label:
- Hyphenated UUID: Issuer ID. Nothing else in either family has that shape.
- Eight digits: Vendor Number. Ten digits: App Store ID. Count them.
- Dots: Bundle ID. With a ten-character prefix and a dot, you are looking at a full App ID.
- Ten mixed characters: Team ID, API Key ID or APNs Key ID. The page it came from decides. From Membership details, it is the team. From the Team Keys table in App Store Connect, it is an API key. From Keys on developer.apple.com, it is a push key.
Which trio each job wants
- App Store Connect API (reports, analytics, TestFlight automation, FunnelHound): Issuer ID + API Key ID + the API .p8. Vendor Number joins for sales and finance reports.
- Push notifications, token based: Team ID + APNs Key ID + the APNs .p8. Different key, different site, different ID next to it.
- Universal links and associated domains: Team ID + Bundle ID, written as one string in the apple-app-site-association file.
- Attribution and review SDKs: App Store ID, sometimes the Bundle ID as well.
- Transporter uploads: Bundle ID in the package, plus the Provider short name if your Apple ID belongs to several teams.
- Sales reports and bookkeeping: Vendor Number, with SKU as the per-app label inside the file.
The first and second rows cause the most trouble because both involve a .p8 file and a ten-character key ID. The giveaway is the third value: a UUID means the App Store Connect family, a Team ID means push.
Why this matters for your funnel numbers
Analytics tools ask for the store family and nothing else. FunnelHound, for instance, takes the Issuer ID, Key ID and .p8 to read impressions, page views, installs and deletions, and the Vendor Number to read proceeds. Signing identifiers never enter the picture, which is a handy sanity check: a funnel tool asking for your Team ID is asking for the wrong family.
Three store IDs in, the whole funnel out
Issuer ID, Key ID, one .p8 import: FunnelHound signs the requests on your iPhone and draws impressions through purchases for every app on the account. No Team ID, no Bundle ID, no server in between.
Get FunnelHoundData notes: locations checked against developer.apple.com and App Store Connect as of 2026. All example values are placeholders except 6793297146, which is FunnelHound's own App Store ID. The App ID prefix equals the Team ID on current accounts; a few very old accounts carry legacy prefixes.
